Public sector information also has a considerable economic potential. The New information society technologies have led to unprecedented possibilities to combine data taken from different sources and create added value products and services. Public sector information is an essential basis for many digital information products and could become an important raw material for new services. In addition a better use of public sector information will lead to other benefits for the citizens in the form of a range of added-value information products that the public sector itself cannot provide.

EPSINet seeks to assist the development of the fragmented field of PSI and to provide an up-to-date frame of reference for other projects and initiatives under eContent and other EC-funded programmes and nationally among member and candidate states.

This section of resources aims to bring together and evaluate information on developments in the area of use and exploitation of Public Sector Information to support exchange of knowledge, good practice and advice and to promote wide interoperability between PSI domains.
